As the operational base for Alfred the Great, when he successfully repelled the Vikings, Somerset has a wealth of historic treasures tracing a proud past and has the second highest number of Listed buildings outside London.

Somerset's rich history is surpassed only by its broad and beautiful countryside, with varied landscape encompassing everything from the rolling hills of Exmoor and the network of caves and caverns around Cheddar Gorge to the popular seaside resorts of Burnham-on-Sea.

With all that in mind, there are plenty of fantastic activities awaiting you in Somerset and here are our Top 3.
