Owl Encounter

One of the most magical and mystical creatures around, you'll get the chance to handle, feed and fly a variety of the owls in our undercover flying area! Learn all about the habitat, hunting techniques and more.

You will be met by a team member upon arrival at our Newton St Loe centre, who will give a brief health and safety talk to ensure the best possible, safe, experience.

You will have the chance to fly three different Owls, as we talk about each in turn. Afterwards, you will get a guided tour where we introduce you to the rest of the birds living with us. 

Once you arrive at West of England Falconry you will be asked to fill out a disclaimer form for Health and Safety reasons. You can find a copy of this on our website: www.westofenglandfalconry.org.uk or we will provide you with one on your arrival.

Equipment: You will be provided with the specialist equipment required to handle the birds, but we encourage you to wear suitable clothing and footwear for a woodland area and wear a long-sleeved top. They are not pets, please do not attempt to stroke or touch any of the birds. 

Weather: Owl encounters are available all year round and due to the undercover flight area are not affected by weather often, however, in the evet of extreme conditions cancellations may occur. 

Cancellations: Should we have to cancel for any reason, we will be in contact as soon as possible. 

Payments: All payments are taken on the day of the experience. We accept cash and most card types.

Access and mobility considerations: Our undercover flight area and Owl Encounter experience is completely wheelchair accessible. Back supported seating is provided and optional for the duration of your experience. If three or more individuals of your group have specific mobility requirements, we recommend that you contact us before booking.

Children welcome: Children over 7 and families are welcome, the minimum age for unaccompanied young people is 18.

Spectators: A maximum of two spectators are welcome at a price of £10 each

Photography: You are welcome to take photos and videos during your Owl Encounter and we appreciate the opportunity take our own photos and videos for promotional and publicity purposes (including publication on Social Media). Please be sure to answer the photographic permission question on our Risk Assessment and Disclaimer Form when you arrive.
