Spearfishing Basics Course

Spearfishing is a sustainable fishing method that has been in existence since early civilisations around the world, who used sharpened sticks in rivers and streams. The activity has evolved since then, and you can have the chance to explore something new and why the activity is growing so rapidly. These courses help you to learn and understand breathing techniques, how to set up and maintain your equipment as well as skills you need to hunt efficiently and safely. 

Spearfishing Basics Includes:
– Equipment set up, choice and care
– Loading a speargun, unloading a speargun and shooting a speargun
– Buddy system procedures & rescue techniques
– Breathing techniques and exercises
– Weight safety & finning form
– Equalisation methods
– Duck diving techniques
– Spearfishing techniques

A successful spearfisher is a good freediver. We'd recommend trying our freediving course to lead nicely into the spearfishing course. We also offer Advanced Spearfishing and Charter Trips.

Equipment needed: Towel, any kit if you have it, face mask, hand sanitiser

Weather: Usually able to run under most weather conditions but may be cancelled in exceptional circumstances.

Cancellations: If you cancel due to Covid-19 (health or lockdown) free rebookings are allowed, free rebookings up to a week before the course date. If unable to rebook refund minus the course materials already sent will be provided. If we cancel due to weather we will let you know asap and re-book for a time that suits
