Introduction

Jack Fazey has been working and teaching green-woodworking & ancient crafts for many years. A passion for understanding & reconnecting with the natural world drives his work & teaching.

Working with natural materials in their raw form, be that wood, bark or roots, to create something useful brings with it an enjoyment & satisfaction which is hard to beat. Join Fazey Woodcraft to reconnect with the outside and our ancestors.

Naturebreak-Talk-Woodcraft

What is green-woodworking? Your experience will begin with an introduction to the history of these materials and how they can be used to provide our everyday needs.

You'll then move on to learning about the associated tools; how they work and how to use them safely & efficiently.

Next up are the principles behind wood carving, where you'll begin roughing out the spoon!

As a mid-way point, you'll stop for lunch & perhaps some philosophical conversations…

Why this experience is great for you

  • Reconnect with the old ways - learn to make what you need from what’s around you.
  • Mindfulness - Carving is hugely beneficial in more ways than you might think! Calm, quiet, contemplative.
  • Increase your self-reliance & practical abilities. Learning to carve a spoon brings with it a good grounding in tool use and traditional ways of working.
  • Have fun! You’ll be amazed just how satisfying carving a spoon can be!
  • Cooking & eating will never be the same again once you do it with your very own hand carved spoon!
