Introduction

Enjoy the uplifting experience of the dawn chorus in full throng with Devon Wildlife Tours. Guided by expert ecologists, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in one of nature's most wondrous choral displays whilst enjoying an intimate sunrise - an experience that should be on everyone's bucket list.

Devon Wildlife Tours has over two decades of experience exploring this magical part of the UK and discovering its wildlife secrets. Run and owned by passionate local Ecologists, they love to share knowledge & skills in the hope of infecting others with their enthusiasm. In a world so disconnected from nature, they aspire to help people rediscover the natural world and promote the importance of its conservation.

Arriving an hour before sunrise, your experience will start in darkness and complete silence. You'll walk to a favoured woodland glade to get in position ready for the first birds to awaken. Telling you everything you could ever want to know about this amazing springtime event, the team will introduce each bird who sings as part of the chorus.

As each bird begins to sing, the experts will teach you the meaning behind their song and how to identify individual species using easy-to-remember techniques. You can expect to encounter at least 10 different songsters during every dawn chorus and potentially many more.

With the sun now spreading its warm glow across the woodland glade, you'll go for a short stroll through the woodland in search of any active birds who you can try to spot using supplied binoculars and learn to identify by sight.

It’s not uncommon for Devon Wildlife Tours to stumble across other wildlife during a dawn chorus including Owls, Foxes and even the occasional Badger on its way back to a local sett.

As the sound fades away, you'll slowly make your way back to the woodland glade to complete the experience and make your way back to the meeting point.
