Introduction

Sailing out of the beautiful Dorset port of Weymouth, Dolphin Watch offers unique opportunities to locate and watch animals who live nearby. The wonderful experience at sea allows you to visit some beautiful shorelines and encounter some of the breathtaking sea creatures that Weymouth has to offer.

The wildlife you'll very likely spot includes seals, dolphins, porpoises, seabirds and possibly sharks, sunfish, and even whales. The tour will provide you with the best opportunities to get up close with these glorious animals and see them within their habitats. If you love exploring the sea, this experience for you.

Your trip starts with a tour along the coastline towards Portland, searching for a few seals and Harbour Porpoises along the way.

Next, you’ll head a few miles out for the rest of the safari, increasing your chances of finding the bigger pods of dolphins and maybe even some whales!

You’ll also see a host of pelagic seabirds such as kittiwakes, terns, storm petrels, skuas and a variety of shearwaters, (some as rare as giant pandas!), along with a whole lot more.

These cruises are very popular with guests wishing to see the most wildlife possible, so don't forget to let your guides know what you've spotted along the way!

Why this experience is great for you

  • You'll get the chance to see dolphins, whales, seals, pelagic birds and other marine life (including the Balearic Shearwater, rarer than giant pandas!) as they should be... behaving naturally in the wild
  • These trips are led by extremely experienced and recognised guides, whose passion for marine life shines through and come armed with an extensive knowledge of all things wild
  • You'll learn how to safely interact around marine life at sea, as well as all about the threats currently facing these creatures and how you can get involved in helping them
  • Embrace the chance to help Dolphin Watch by aiding them in collecting data on the animals you spot during your trip. This information is then submitted to numerous charities and wildlife conservation groups, who use it to help establish numbers, conserve and protect precious marine life
  • You'll make unforgettable memories with family and friends, hopefully with the spectacular photos to match!
  • Simply being at sea has tremendous mental and physical health benefits  that are extremely well documented
