Cely Woods
At A Glance
Cely woods is interspersed with paths woven throughout the woods, guiding you to the sights and sounds of the wildlife. No matter the time of year the wildlife across the wetlands is always a wonder. Take a walk up to the wooden bridge that straddles the stream and get your wildlife spotting on! Continue through to Belhus Woods Country Park via Romford Road and get a refreshment from the visitor centre.
Eponymously named after the Cely Family, owners of some of the land in 1492 to escable the bubonic plague, 240 of the family's personal and business letters sit here and are the largest collection of their kind. Providing historians with valuable insight about the life of a late medieval merchant family, the collection is a wonder.
