Cannop Ponds
Lydney, Gloucestershire
At A Glance
A former home to the Severn and Wye Railway, constructed to exploit natural resources from the Forest of Dean. Cannop's ponds were created in 1825, and 1829 to supply a waterwheel. Now used for fishing at Yorkley Angling Club, the site is the perfect place to watch the local wildlife. Keep an eye out for Mandarin ducks, reed warblers and nesting mute swans. Walking trails will help you explore the forest, or bring your bikes and explore on two wheels.
