Cycling and mountain biking trails at Alice Holt

Alice Holt has a great setting for cycling, the two trails to enjoy by bike include the faily trail and shipwright's trail. From great oaks to wildflower open spaces are open for you to enjoy with your bikes (cycle hire currently unavailable)

The family cycle trail: perfect for everyone to see the forest, with a picnic meadow to provide rest partway. Children should be supervised due to the gravel surface and steep downhill section at the beginning. Visitors should wear helmets at all times. Grade - Blue (intermediate cyclists or mountain bikers with basic off-road riding skills). Trail Length: 3 miles (4.8 km).

Shipwrights Way trail: A historic, long-distance route, linking beautiful villages and town in East Hampshire. Named after the oak grown at Alice Holt, the route starts in Alice Holt, through Bordon, Liphook, Liss, Petersfield, Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Havant, Hayling Island and via ferry into Portsmouth finishing at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, home of infamous Mary Rose and HMS Victory. Around 50 miles in total seeing seven rail stations, and 20 beautiful sculptures by Richard Perry. For more information visit Shipwights Way. Grade - Blue The route is all on wide, well-surfaced gravel tracks with no stiles or gates, suitable for pushchairs and mobility vehicles. Trail Length: Alice Holt section: 3 miles (4.8 km) (entire trail 50 miles)

Alice Holt Forest Circuits

Bring forest fitness and wellbeing into your routine with these regular classes

HIIT classes: in just 45 minutes you can achieve a full body workout. Split into 30 second bodyweight and mat-based exercises you can get fit in a beautiful forest backdrop! 

Nordic walking: easy and suitable for all ages and abilities, burn up to 40% more than normal walking, welcoming and friendly. 

Regular walking: please see site for dates and times. 

Circuit training: Team Enjoy a forest based full body workout! warm-up, resistance, carido and agility training in a 45 minute class.

  • Accessibility: The forest has a surfaced easy access trail, suitable for mobility scooters, wheelchairs and prams
  • Equipment needed: to make sure you enjoy your visit, wear comfortable shoes suitable for all terrains, and weather-appropriate clothing.
  • Dogs are welcome: Accessible dogs are also welcome. There is a dog wash. 
  • Toilets: Available
  • Parking: Alice Holt is a cashless site (with the exception of the cafe) so parking fees will need to be made by card.

Know before you go!

  • Please keep highways and gateways clear and leave plenty of room for other road users to pass safely. If the car park is full or too busy please be prepared to turn around and come another day.

  • Barbecues are not permitted in any part of our forest.
  • We only accept card and contactless payments apart from the cafe where you can also pay by cash.
